There had to be a better way…
My wife and I run Rad Dad Alternative Wellness: two retail locations in Baton Rouge and an ecommerce store. Every product we carry needs a current certificate of analysis, the lab result that proves what's in it. Brands reissue those with every new batch, so the link on a product page goes stale the moment a brand updates. Keeping every page current, in store and online, was a manual job that never ended.
And it is not optional. You can't open a bank account, get approved by a payment processor, or pass a compliance inspection without current lab results and permits on file. Let one lapse and you can be shut down until it's fixed.
I built rd Labs to solve it for our own business, by connecting the three parties who have to stay in sync: brands, retailers, and distributors.
What it does
- Keeps lab results current. A brand registers a product once by barcode and uploads the result. Every retailer carrying that barcode shows a current “Lab Results” link, and a new batch updates every page on its own. If a brand issues a recall, the same link shows the recall notice and everyone connected is told.
- Connects the assets that sell. Brands attach product images and descriptions to the barcode. Retailers pull them onto the page. Better listings, more online revenue.
- Tracks permits before they lapse. Retailers upload their permits — ATC, resale, and the rest — and distributors keep every retailer's on file. rd Labs warns everyone at 60, 30, and 7 days. The thing that shuts you down stops being a surprise.
What it looks like in practice
A shopper taps the Lab Results link on a product page and sees the current document, the one matching the batch on the shelf. An inspector checks the same link and finds the same thing. The barcode does the work behind it, so a retailer sets it up once and never touches the page again. You don't hear from rd Labs unless something breaks or a permit is coming due.
